Peshtemals FAQ
Washing your Peshtemal before the first use allows the cotton fibers to bloom and expand. That ensures maximum absorbency and softness of Peshtemal. After the first wash, you may wash your Peshtemal as needed.
Peshtemals are thinner than regular towels and take up much less space.
Peshtemals are very absorbent towels and dry quickly, which also makes them preferable as beach towels.
If you follow the proper use and washing instructions, the colors remain fixed.
Regardless of hand-loomed or power loomed, tassels are knotted by hand.
If a tassel unravels you can easily reknott it, or you can leave it alone as it adds an authentic look to the Peshtemal.
How to properly reknot your Peshtemal? Simply separate the threads into two equal sections. Twist each section in a clockwise motion. Then twist both sections together in a counterclockwise motion. Tie the knot off at the end and you are good to go!
